There are no words that suffice to describe who Pino Signoretto was.
“Sono fatto di vetro, io mango bevo, vivo di vetro”
Recognised as the most important artist and sculptor of glass not only in Murano but in the world.
What seemed and was impossible for anyone else to achieve, Pino did it, demonstrating his ability and strength in manipulating glass that he himself defines as “the unparalleled master of my life”
Pino was born in Venice in 1944 and died in 2017.
Due to the economic difficulties of his family, he began working at a glass furnace at a very young age. He was 9 years old just a child but he immediately fell in love with Murano glass.
In 1959 he had the opportunity to work with the great glass masters of the time: Livio and Angelo Seguso, Ermanno Nason and, most importantly for Pino, the celebrated Alfredo Barbini, who became his teacher and mentor.
In 1960 he became a master glassmaker. These were important years for Pino because he learned the secrets and techniques of Murano glass – passed down from generation to generation, for centuries – and he accumulated something very important for a passionate artist like him: experience.
1978 marked the opening of his atelier in Murano and the collaboration with famous artists: Dal Pezzo, Licata, Kruft, Pomodoro, Vitali, Wilson, even Picasso and Dalì. Later he collaborated with Chihuly, Koons, Kummer, Vercrysse, Quinn.
